Automated white balance, and conversion from Interpositive or Negative stocks is also an issue that would need to be addressed. Kaliscope addresses some of these already

I stumbled on the Kaliscope project recently. Really interesting stuff. I need to look into their github a little more closely. The OFX plugin software stuff is really powerful.

Is anyone successfully transferring negative film stocks with their builds?
This seemed like a very difficult challenge to do well about 10 years ago when I first started looking at DIY telecine.
I’ve only ever shot reversal for this reason, but wouldn’t mind buying some Vision 50D Super 8 film if I thought I’d be able to do a decent transfer on it at home.
