Prints, generally speaking, are one of the worst elements to scan from if you have a choice, because they were engineered for the human vision system and to be viewed in a darkened room.

Yep, that’s why they made low-contrast prints for telecine (aka TV prints). Those are designed to be transferred but wouldn’t look great projected! The high density of projection prints causes a lot of issues for most existing scanners.
