I am from India and has been working with a full fledged film studio from 1985.I was working with the electronics and mechanical engineering team for the Camera department,Laboratory,editing,recording and re recording theatre,movie theatres etc. I am still working there but the only difference is that I am working on digital film equipments such as Baselight,Davinci,Barco digital projectors,Dolby Atmos etc.
I have not become obsolete due to the transformation of analog to digital,only because luckily I have a good background on electronics.
We are having a film vault in our studio, but the films are not archived as it is very expensive in our country.Also there are a lot of films kept out side our studio which are also facing the same situation.
I am planning to build a scanner with the help from your (sorry that it is now our)community to preserve the films.
I am having a 35 mm portable projector in good working condition and now I am confident that I can do that with the valuable tips from our forums.
