I was wondering if people could share their stl’s for rollers that use O rings to grip the film
as well as the amazon link to the o rings intended for the design. I’ve tried to design rollers like this but all my designs never seem to work.
It might help if a little more information was provided. What film format, what was failing on your designs? What O-rings have you used in the past?
Are these intended to be idlers or driving wheels? If so, what haft diameter are you using? any bearings or bushings. It will be very hard to customize any STL provided to you, so if any of the items don’t match your requirements, it may not do you any good.
One problem with O-rings is they only track on a small section of the film. If the film drifts off axis, you risk running off the edge of the film. If you axles are not perpendicular to the line of travel, or you don’t have guides to prevent it from drifting, the film will start walking off axis.
A roller design is going to be very much dependent on overall system design. That is why, for example, T-scann 8 has all the 3D print files, it works as a system. What method of modeling a 3D part do you have access to? If you are just hoping to print a file and have it work, that is not very likely to succeed.
I ended up designing my own that work great after a few days with no response to this thread thanks for the response though…
