Scott Schiller's 8mm Film Scanner YouTube Playlist

I don’t think this has been posted here yet, and it has been a great resource for information, inspiration and most of all motivation to me.

On YouTube, Scott Schiller has made this truly excellent series of videos on building an 8mm film scanner from a projector and his scanning workflow:

I can only recommend having a look, as his build is both beautifully “simple” and delivers what I think are great results. He also has a playlist with some of his scans that you can find here.

Great find! I’ve added it to the “Existing Machines” list, which you can find here. ANyone can edit it so if you find more, please add them!

One interesting detail is that Scott’s projector has a larger opening in the gate than the same make I model I used, so not all the S400 are made equal. In my case I removed the gate and mechanism. His results are great.
